Indonesia is joining the global phenomenon of MobileMonday with establishment of MobileMonday Indonesia last month and its kick-off was marked in the Executive Brief Meeting in Jakarta, Monday.

Free Wi-Fi for Indonesia’s N-series users

Nokia Indonesia offers free Wi-Fi connection for N-series users by establishing a project called “1,000 Nokia NSeries WiFiZone”.
Nokia has teamed up with the three giant network and Internet providers, Telkom, IM2 and CBN. Nokia signed the joint agreement today with IM2 and CBN, after a similar agreement with Telkom two months ago.

Indonesia’s Bakrie Telkom to invest Rp 2t on expansion

Publicly listed cellular phone provider PT Bakrie Telecom, which operates the CDMA-based esia mobile phone service, plans to expand its coverage to 17 more cities including Surabaya, Medan, Semarang and Yogyakarta this year, in addition to its existing 15 coverage areas in Jakarta, West Java and Banten.

Indonesia’s broadcasting goes digital

Indonesia’s analog broadcasting, on both radio and television, will migrate to digital technology soon.
By enacting Law No. 32/2002, the country’s broadcasting will become digital. According to State Minister of Communications and Information Sofyan Djalil, trials for radio and television digital broadcasting as well as digital TV in mobile phones are in progress.

Indonesia’s Indosat launches 3G

Indonesia’s second-biggest mobile operator, PT Indosat Tbk, today launched 3G services following two other rivals, Telkomsel and Excelcomindo which rolled out similar services earlier this year.
For the first term, Indosat will schedule this service for the Jakarta and Surabaya areas as part of various telecommunications technology innovations commemorating the 39th anniversary of the company.
