Counterterrorism conference begins in Indonesia
JAKARTA — Government leaders and security chiefs from six Asia-Pacific nations will gather later on Monday to discuss ways to better fight terrorism and an apparent rise in Muslim extremism in the region, officials said.
Participants from Indonesia, Australia, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore - nations seen as especially vulnerable to terrorist attacks - will also stress the importance of making sure militants do not acquire unconventional weapons.
