China offers to support Indonesia’s Telkom satellite

A satellite producer from China is ready to fund the Telkom III satellite plan, Tempo Interactive reported. According PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom) Managing Director, Arwin Rasyid, the offer from China’s Great Wall Satellite was proposed when he visited China some time ago. So far Telkom always funds its satellites itself.
“But we haven’t decided yet because it must go through a ‘beauty contest’ first,” said Arwin in Jakarta. He said that the offer contains the making and launching of a satellite. “So far PT Telkom purchases satellites from the United States. As for the launching, it can be in the US or France.”
Regarding investment funds, the bidder also proposed a soft loan for an eight year term and low interest, to be distributed by Exim Bank of China.

Chinese satellite seems to be more effective in building satellite. I think launch will be cheaper and cost effective in china… in US using USD or Euro is pretty expensive for indonesia and i think using chinese rocket makes more senseee.
But i wish indonesia can build its own satellite and launch it from biak itself
