Power supply in Jakarta to return normal in a week
Many electricity customers suffered blackouts due to massive flooding in Jakarta and environs at the week-end. State electricity company PT PLN will restore normal power supply within one week, PLN President Director Eddie Widiono said Tuesday.
It’s a good nice for me since I can do nothing in my home, mainly to have my PC and Internet connection, during the blakcouts. Come on, PLN!
According to Widiono, as many as 1,050 electrical relay stations are still not working due to the floods (on Tuesday) while on Monday the relay stations which did not function numbered 2,104 units.
“There is only one main distribution station, namely, the Gambir Baru station which has yet to resume operation,” he said, adding that PLN needed time to restore electricity supply to consumers as the power transmission installations that wereengulfed by flood water had to be dried, cleaned and tested.
Widiono said after the 2002 floods in the capital, PLN needed 10 days to make about 1,800 affected stations operational again.
To accomplish it, PT PLN deployed 500 personnel from the company’s Jakarta-Tangerang distribution office as well as those in West Java and Central Java.
The state owned company would give a 10-percent discount to customers who suffered blackouts for more than three consecutive days.
