Jakarta’s telephone lines almost recovered

Telecommunication network in Jakarta and environs, after disrupted by floods and heavy rains, almost recovered yesterday. Telephone lines, mainly for PT Telekomunikasi Selular (Telkomsel) and PT Indonesian Satellite Corporation Tbk (Indosat)subscribers, has been used almost normally.

According to Indosat’s spokeperson, Adita Irawati, her company has reactivated base transceiver station (BTS) after shut-downed due to lack of electricity supply.

“It’s only 5 per cent of 1,400 BTS still inactive,” she said, as quoted by saying by the daily Koran Tempo today.

President Director Telkomsel Kiskenda Suriahardja said, at leat 10 per cent out of 3,362 Telkomsel’s BTS still unindated. According to him, Telkomsel has recovered its cellular network among others in Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Gambir, Kuningan, Mampang, and Kemang.

Spokeperson PT Excelcomindo Pratama Tbk, Arum K. Prasodjo explained that 5 per cent of 2,800 BTS still disfunction. “We shut-down the network regarding to the security reason,” Prasojo said.
