IT training for teachers from 3G villages

I wrote about 3G villages in the southern part of Indonesia’s Sumatra island here last year. And now, there’s an interesting progress: The teachers from Way Kanan, Lampung, were recently invited to Jakarta to attend a series of training on IT.

PT Microsoft Indonesia and Qualcomm Incorporated hosted the program to train trainers, aimed at teachers from five high schools in Way Kanan, Lampung.

The training program is a continuation of the previous one held in July 2006. The second phase of this exercise, hosted from January 15-19, was held at several locations, including Microsoft Indonesian office.

The materials given were aimed at further enhancing and exploring the use of information technology for teaching learning activities at schools.

In addition to attending the training program, the teachers will also visit Sampoerna Telecom Indonesia office, Jayawisata 2 Tourism School, International Data Center (IDC) Indonesia office and newsportal Detik.com’s headquarter.
